Verse of the Week 6/2: Matthew 11:28-30

NRSV: Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

CEB: Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Put on my yoke, and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves. My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.

The NRSV is the New Revised Standard Version, which is the academic standard for biblical translation. The Common English Bible is a more accessible translation. Both are approved for use during worship in the Episcopal Church.

Verse of the Week 5/26: Psalm 46:10

Book of Common Prayer: Be still, then, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth.*

CEB: That’s enough! Now know that I am God! I am exalted among all nations; I am exalted throughout the world!

*The verse number in the Book of Common Prayer is 46:11. (Psalm verse numberings differ by translation.)
